Boy Scout Survival Skills   Leave a comment

When I look back on it, I learned some great skills as a Boy Scout in Troop 247 (Inver Grove Heights, MN). To this day, I know how to build shelters in rain or snow, shoot straight, start (really big) fires, perform first aid including stitching wounds, navigate land or water, all kinds of things that I wish I had more opportunities to practice on a daily basis. I cannot recommend highly enough picking up a copy of the Boy Scout Fieldbook, check it out HERE. Recently Jeff Csatari compiled a list of 27 cool things you either learned as a Boy Scout, or can still learn from Boy Scouts — it is never too late! Check out the list and vintage illustrations HERE.
